Redevelopment of Mahatma Gandhi Baug

Mahesana Municipal Corporation (MMC), the urban local body of Mahesana city, is undertaking the revitalization of several key public spaces as part of its urban development initiative. Among the prominent spaces identified is Mahatma Gandhi Baug, a centrally located garden spread over 31,000 square meters in the heart of the city. The proposed redevelopment aims to transform the existing garden into a vibrant, inclusive, and environmentally sustainable public realm, a space that fosters community engagement, supports diverse recreational needs, and reflects the cultural identity of Mahesana.

The redevelopment includes landscaped green zones, shaded walkways, a water body, lily pond, open-air seating, and urban furniture. Additionally, the project envisions a dedicated food court, public amenities such as toilets and drinking water stations, children’s play area with various sport facilities and thematic spaces inspired by the life and values of Mahatma Gandhi to create an engaging and educational experience. The design integrates accessibility features for all age groups and abilities.
