Reimagining Junctions

‘The Hundred Junction Program’ is an inhouse initiative by The Urban Lab Foundation. This program looks to demystify junction design in India. It aims to create safe, accessible, and workable junctions for all. It is a project to shift junction design from a traditional engineering approach towards an innovative and integrated street design approach. It also brings the discussions on increasing safety for all road users to the forefront. ‘Reimagining Junctions’ aims to establish a comprehensive guideline for junction design. It discusses the importance of understanding the need and process of designing junctions, as well as best practices, standards and principles that should be followed. It is intended for people–administrators, engineers, urban designers and students–interested in learning how to improve junctions and how these principles and fundamentals can be applied to address and understand junction issues throughout India. The first edition of this program covers 25 junctions of Ahmedabad. We will continue to expand in various cities of India. We plan to keep updating this work with more junctions, from different cities and new ideas.
