Mobility Plan Preparation

Mobility Plan Preparation

Rajapalayam

The Rajapalayam Master Plan project focuses on guiding the future development of a historic industrial textile town nestled along the Eastern slopes of the Western Ghats. Commissioned by the Directorate of Town and Country Planning, Tamil Nadu, the project was led by Tapasya Design Studio, with The Urban Lab handling the transport planning component to ensure integrated and sustainable mobility solutions.

The study involved extensive site visits and analysis of primary and secondary data to evaluate road infrastructure, public transport, traffic flow, safety, and parking systems. Key surveys included traffic census, accident mapping, para-transit mapping, and junction assessments. A mobility vision was developed, along with design strategies for road network improvement.

The project resulted in a GIS-based Master Plan with maps and planning documents outlining land use and transport interventions. It provided a detailed urban mobility plan aimed at reducing congestion and improving Right-of-Way access. Deliverables included survey databases, proposed network maps, and a mobility framework that supports safe, inclusive, and future-ready transport infrastructure for Rajapalayam.
