Parking Policy & On-street Parking Demand Assessment
Mysuru
The Mysuru Parking Management Project, initiated by the Mysuru City Corporation with support from GIZ, focuses on developing a comprehensive and sustainable approach to managing parking challenges in the city’s Central Business District (CBD). With rapid urbanization and increasing vehicle ownership, Mysuru's CBD, home to key commercial corridors and heritage zones, faces acute pressure on its mobility and public space systems.
The Urban Lab was appointed as the technical consultant to lead the design and development of a parking management strategy tailored to the unique demands of the CBD. TUL’s approach integrated spatial surveys, institutional assessments, and user behavior analysis to formulate actionable, context-sensitive solutions. The project focused on optimizing existing parking assets, introducing demand-responsive pricing models, enhancing enforcement mechanisms, recommending institutional frameworks & business models for sustained impact.
Through stakeholder consultations and evidence-based planning, the team delivered a clear, phased roadmap supported by spatial mappings, operational strategies, and financial models. The outcome is a forward-looking, data-driven parking management system that alleviates congestion while contributing to broader goals of sustainable urban mobility and clean air within the heart of Mysuru.
