The Directorate of Town & Country Planning, Govt. of Tamil Nadu has constituted Rajapalayam LPA for preparation of Masterplan for Rajapalayam. M/s Tapasya Design Studio is appointed as the project lead to prepare AMRUT based masterplan for Rajapalayam LPA for DTCP. Rajapalayam Mills Limited has funded this project which will inform the AMRUT based masterplan and has appointed The Urban Lab as the transport planning expert for the project.

The Urban Lab was involved as the transport planning expert for the project ‘Preparation of GIS-based Masterplan for Rajapalayam 2042. The team conducted site visits to assess the existing road network and traffic characteristics of the city. Based on secondary data assessment and future projections, alternative road network plans were proposed to improve connectivity. The plan also included detailed road cross-sections, suggestions for street design, junction improvement, and the establishment of a slow street network. Specific roads and junctions were pinpointed for further detailed proposals. Recommendations for parking management & non-motorised transport (NMT) were also provided.
