Deshmukh Farmhouse
Pusad
Abhijeet Deshmukh’s farmhouse in Pusad, Maharashtra, is envisioned as a permanent family residence and peaceful retirement home for three generations, including his elderly parents and two children.
Located on a 3000 sq m agricultural plot overlooking lush green fields, the project retains the footprint of the existing house while transforming it into a simple, grounded living space that fosters a daily bond with nature.
The layout, guided by Vastu principles, introduces a natural sloping roof, double-height spaces, and two open courtyards that seamlessly connect the indoors and outdoors through the ‘green inside-out’ concept. A higher plinth responds to the local climate, protecting the home from seasonal conditions. Local stone materials and sustainable practices respect the site’s natural character while reducing environmental impact. Intended for long-term living, the farmhouse celebrates its agricultural setting and deep connection to the land, offering a tranquil, functional space for the family’s next chapter in life.
