Parking Area Management Plan Toolkit

Bhubaneshwar

Bhubaneshwar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has prepared a parking policy for Bhubaneswar. Under the Integrated and Sustainable Urban Transport Systems in Smart Cities (SMART-SUT) project, BMC has selected two demonstration areas – Master Canteen and Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) – for implementing a parking management plan. This work is being done by CRDF, CEPT University.

The Urban Lab is working with CRDF, CEPT for preparing the Parking Area Management Plan (PAMP) toolkit for Bhubaneshwar. It is involved in planning and design of the parking demonstration areas. The scope of work includes preparation of street layouts, detailing of cross-sections, formulating regulations and the implementation plan for the two areas. The street layouts are based on the parking policy developed by BMC. It includes the Right of Way covering the footpath, cycle tracks, public transit infrastructure and provisions for other traffic. The Urban Lab has also developed principles of design for parking, based on proximity to public transport, land and building-use and presence of existing and planned multi storied parking.
