The study is funded by UKAID through the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office under the High-Volume Transport Applied Research Programme, managed by IMC Worldwide. The COVID-19 pandemic has disproportionately affected workers in the informal sector especially women workers. The Urban Catalysts is leading the study and The Urban Lab is collaborating with them. The study intends to examine the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on women’s mobility. The research aims to provide evidence, insights, and fast track knowledge to inform policy guidance and responses by low-income countries (LICs) in addressing gender equity, safety, and personal security in high-volume transport.

The study involves secondary research in four medium to large scale cities of South Asia, namely Kabul, Dhaka, Lahore, and Kathmandu. Primary research will examine the impact of COIVD-19 on the mobility of working resource poor women in Delhi. The Urban Lab provides expert advice on public transport operations and investigating the decision-making process.
