Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) and Deutsche Gesellschaft fuer Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH are jointly implementing the technical cooperation project ‘Integrated Sustainable Urban Transport Systems for Smart Cities (Smart-SUT)’. It includes three cities under the program—Kochi, Coimbatore, and Bhubaneswar. GIZ has identified the need for updated transit information to be made available for public transit users.

As part of the Smart SUT project, The Urban Lab is helping KMRL and KMC to prepare an integrated transit map of the Kochi region. This shall include bus, metro and ferry routes and provide information about interchanges and terminals. The database generated through this exercise can be updated in future to produce transit maps in a ‘hard’ format or as a dynamic resource that can be integrated with mobile apps.
