Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) is implementing the Chennai Mega Street project with an aim to improve liveability of the citizens. The project endeavours to redesign and develop streets which are as accessible, pedestrian friendly, incorporating various aspects of mobility, utility and liveability. The project is divided into 6 packages, focusing on different neighbourhoods in Chennai.

The Urban Lab is working with Arya Architects for detailed street design of the 30 km street network in Mylapore area. The project identifies primary mobility corridors, secondary streets and other public spaces for development. It includes development of pedestrian paths, realignment of utility, traffic calming measures and creating heritage value.
